Working with Private Diaries Tutorial

Search form

Hi, my name is Ron and I’m a recovering alcoholic. In this tutorial I will show you how to work with private diaries.

First, go to Twelve Step Journaling .com, then log-in with your username and password.

Before creating private entries you need to create at least one diary book to put them in first.

The first diary book I will create is exclusively for me. I am calling it “Personal Diary Book”

I will make a note about that in the diary description. In my diaries I can put as many separate entries as I want.

Now I will create another diary book, but this time I am planning on adding my sponsor as a member. This way my sponsor will be notified whenever I make an entry in this diary book, and we can securely work together. I will call this one “Sponsor & Me”.

Click “Save”.

To view a list of my diaries, I click on the menu link "My Diaries".

To view my private entries, click on "my diary entries". As you can see, I have not created any diary entries yet. To do so, Go to the “Create” block on the left side, and click on the link "private diary entries". Enter this entry’s title then type anything you want in the body.

Where should I file this entry? Do I need to put it in my personal diary book, or do I want my sponsor to see it in our shared diary? Let's put this entry in my personal diary book.

Is this entry step work? if so, choose which step number. And no, there is no step 13!

Is it a gratitude entry? Or an intention? If so choose the corresponding category from the dropdown menu. This will help with categorizing and accessing my body of work as it grows.

You can also add multiple tags if you want. Just make sure to use a comma between tags. Some example tags could be: fear, honesty, higherpower, wife, family, work, money, meditation, etc.

Now we have done that, let's save it.

To view our entries click on "My diary entries". Here it is!

Now let's add my sponsor as a member to my "Sponsor & Me" diary book. You must first make sure that your sponsor is a registered user of the site and you also need to know his or her user-name. If they are not, invite them so you can easily and securely work with them using the online diaries on Twelve Step Journaling.com. After that, we will each be notified by email any time either of us makes any entries or changes.

Click on the diary you want to add your sponsor as a member. Click the link “group” then click “add people”.  Now enter your sponsor's user-name and click “save”.

Now let's view the diary “Sponsor & Me”. Here it is

This is it for this tutorial. Keep journaling and tell your friends about TwelveStepJournaling.com
